My Interview with Road To Romance HERE ****************************** What my readers think about my books The Wolf Warrior series by Rae Monet is exciting, absorbing, and hot, hot, hot! Roan and Serena drew me in and kept me enthralled in The Lost Wolf Warrior. I had to stay with them and find out what happened next. I was so glad that this was a series and happily tore into The Solarian Raven. Richard was intriguing and intense while Megan’s inner beauty and innocence made me like her right away. Rae stayed true to her characters and I became personally invested in the outcome. A Viking’s Vow is by far the hottest of the series so far. During the first chapter I had to turn the fan on! Eirik and Sable kept things pretty steamy. I couldn’t put the book down once I began. Rae tells me there’s another book coming out in this series in the next few months. As much as I loved the other three, Rae, all I can say is, HURRY UP! JJ Massa

What's this book all about? See here for a preview and excerpt. The year is 1311. The day of the
Viking is coming to an end. They called him
Eirik the Fierce. A Norseman bred from a long line of Viking Jarl’s and
the leader of a starving Icelandic settlement. The news from England--the
King is offering a bounty equal to a year's harvest for the pelts of
Scotland’s wolves. What Eirik found in
the highland forests of Scotland was much more valuable than he could imagine,
her name was Sable. For Sable,
protecting the lives of the Solarian wolves is ingrained into the soul of every

battle-trained Norsemen invade the Realm territory, Sable has no choice but to
fight. Forced into submission and
taken prisoner Sable must surrender or die.
However, Eirik will
find a female Wolf Warrior of the highest order does not take well to a life of
Viking slave and he begins to wonder which of them has become enslaved.
JERR 4 Stars ...A Vikings Vow starts with a bang. This searing hot scene between Eirik and Sable will have you reaching for the ice water, and it sets the tone for the rest of their encounters. But there is also a great plot to enjoy... In spite of difficulties, these two people have a tender love story that survives all the obstacles. The descriptions of the villagers and Eirik's family create a believable picture and round out our understanding of the fierce warrior... For SWAT Leader Gabe Blackhawk, bagging a fugitive is just another day on the job. Born of the Blackfoot Confederacy, a son of the Piikani Plains Indian tribe, Gabe is at one with his ancestry. A warrior at heart, passionate by nature and cool under pressure, Gabe has mastered all his demons, nothing can shake his world. Until
he meets Special Agent Kally Voker. Until
she meets Detective Gabe Blackhawk Excerpt from Gabe's Prize... ARC, copyright Rae Monet 2004, uncontracted work. Kally’s irritation escalated with
every puffed out breath. She
settled down into one of the uncomfortable airport chairs to wait, glancing at
her watch for the third time. She
grimaced, plucked some papers from her briefcase and began to plot her case.
Without
meaning to, she flipped her wrist and checked the time again.
She dropped her arm in disgust. Wouldn’t
help to look at her darn watch again. The
man was thirty minutes late. She
had already called the number Jo had given her, but no one answered.
Kally
was considering calling a cab and taking it to the police station when her
attention was caught by a dark-haired man jogging into the airport.
He was tall and slim, in a run five miles a day, male model way.
BOISE POLICE SWAT was stamped across the front of his jacket in yellow
and he wore tactical gear, including dark blue cargo pants and sturdy black
boots. He
slowed to a stroll with a grace that stunned her.
Long flowing movement, not a motion wasted, even though he seemed in a
hurry. He walked with purpose; he knew where he was going, confident
and alert. His gaze scanned the
room as if he didn’t miss anything going on around him. He
was so striking it stunned her stupid. Blindingly
handsome, but in a rugged old west way, exotic.
He was obviously Detective Blackhawk.
How many men ran around in SWAT gear in the middle of the day? His
gaze focused on her, as if he saw no one else in the waiting area, he seemed
surprised at her appearance. Running
his hand through his long hair, he headed her way.
His skin was a lovely chocolate color, like creamy light fudge Standing,
Kally clutched her to-do book and file folder to her chest.
The closer he came, the harder her heart pounded.
Sweat pooled at the base of her neck.
Heat infused her body, rushing up her face. Was she losing her mind? “Agent Voxer?” Approaching her, he held out his hand. Kally looked into his eyes.
They were light green, almost iridescent, the color of a frozen pond in
the middle of winter. Stunning, but she saw something haunting lurking in his
gaze, something she couldn’t quite place.
The combination marred his perfection, bud didn’t lesson his appeal. You better shake his hand, her mind commanded, instead
of staring into his eyes like a teenage groupie.
She turned the command into action, lifting her hand, and her notebook
and file tumbled out of her arms in a flutter of paper.
“Oh.”
She bent down to retrieve them the same time he did. Their heads conked. “Ouch.”
Slapping her hand to her forehead, she recoiled and landed on her ass.
“Oh.”
She sat and glanced up. Could
she be any more of an idiot? He stood above her, his hand slapped
on his forehead. “You okay?”
Reaching down, he grabbed her hand to haul her up.
The moment the warmth of his skin
touched hers, she was lost. All she
could think about was a sultry, private beach and lying naked under this man.
She let him draw her up, hoping he would tug her the extra three inches
straight into his body. “Agent Voker?” he asked, but she
lost her voice. What the hell is wrong with
me? I can’t speak. “I’m assuming since you’re the
only other one in the airport with a gun, besides me, you’re Kally Voker,
Oakland FBI?” He reached down and
retrieved her dropped items, handing them to her. “Huh?”
Kally couldn’t remember his question.
He smiled, a cigarette-after-sex
smile. Sinful.
He nearly blinded her with his sex appeal, oozing it from every pore.
Then he reached out and stroked the bump on her forehead. “Agent Voker, are you all right?”
Kally tried to retrieve her calm
demeanor. Unfortunately the heat of
his fingers on her skin and the energy it created were melting her brain cells.
She needed to pull herself together.
She could hear her father’s voice in the back of her mind... be
professional, good god, pull yourself together! “Um, yeah, yeah... I’m Agent Voker.” She
broke his ice green gaze and reached for her notebook and file.
“Thanks.” The word
seemed inadequate. She wanted to
say, thanks for letting
me look at you, you sexy, beautiful man.
If Kally didn’t know any better, she would say love at first sight just
hit her. Well maybe not hit, maybe
like nearly knocked her out. Tilting his head, he dropped his hand
from her forehead and stared at her. Studying
him back, she reached up and brushed her bangs from her eye.
“Sorry I’m so late, got a last
minute call out.” He placed his
hands in front of him in the universal sign of surrender.
“I apologize, I... wasn’t expecting--.” “It’s okay, I understand.”
She reached down, shoved her notebook and file into her briefcase then
hauled it over her shoulder, trying to fake being a composed professional woman.
Breaking his gaze helped. She
grabbed the handle of her suitcase and began rolling it with her. He stepped forward and gripped the
briefcase strap, trying to take it off her shoulder.
She set her mouth and tugged. He
pulled back, and she pulled harder. He
raised a single brow. She wasn’t going to let him win this war.
She was going to maintain her professionalism if it killed her and that
meant carrying her own things. She
was mortified by her own behavior. Truly
embarrassed. “Can I carry that for you?” She held onto the leather strap as if
it was her link to sanity. “No,
thanks, I have it. Should we go?
I’m anxious to team on this case.” He released the leather, his hand
slowly slipping off her shoulder. Kally
stiffened as a shiver galloped down her spine to her toes.
She had never had this sense of being off balance before.
Never. Squaring her
shoulders, she turned and preceded him, wondering when her equilibrium would
return.
Gabe made a soft wolf whistle in his
mind. What a gorgeous woman. As she walked in front of him, he
watched the sway of her hips. And
what a sway it was. Uptight,
organized, and wholeheartedly passionate were the immediate words that came into
his mind, especially passionate. He wanted to let down her hair.
The blond curly mound piled on top of her head begged for release.
He wanted to pluck the pins out, one at a time.
Then, when her hair curled down past her shoulders, he wanted to suck on
her lips, slowly, savoring. He smiled at the thought as he
trailed her. Oh man, I’m in big
trouble.

Counting Midnight
Nina Caruthers life has been filled with nothing much but pain. Still dealing with pain and side effects from her accident, Nina tries to make the most of the time she has left. Nina knew she shouldn’t have taken the job at Velicescu Finance. At first her smooth and sexy boss, Vasile Velicescu makes her feel things, familiar things that she can't understand. What is this hold he has on her? She's afraid she’s falling for him but he is keeping things from her. He reminds her so much of the man she’d called her Midnight Lover. She’d known him for years, before her accident, but hadn’t seen him since. She’d kept a diary about her old lover – if only she remembered what her notations meant. My Review Counting Midnight J.J. Massa
Counting
Midnight is the story of Vasile Velicescu and his lost lover, Nina Caruthers.
Thinking Nina has died, Vasile, a 927 year old vampire. could not seem to move
on with his life. That was until Nina reappears, whipped of her memory and
applying for a position in his company. Confused and angry she hasn't
contacted him, Vasile decides he needs to find out what happened to her
so her takes her on as his employee.
Counting Midnight is a sweet love story that reminds us of the importance of keeping your love one's close. J.J. does a wonderful job at taking us to the merged world of present day and vampires without overdoing, giving a great romance, with a yummy taste of blood and sensual sex. Vasile's character is rich in culture and etiquette, just as you would picture an ancient Vampire should be. You will feel as if you are there, with him, in his world. J.J. grasp of the language and description keep you there, embroiled with the characters. Nina is confused at the attraction she hold for Vasile, yet J.J. has drawn her strong as well as vulnerable. The story takes us through a new relationship which blooms between the characters as they discover their renewed love and passion. I think you'll enjoy this tale, especially if your a fan of vampires and sensual romance. The story is wrapped up very nicely in a great little package, a little action, a little suspense, and a lot of heat. My Review Wow... Lady Blade can write a story! That's what I found out when I decided to read her book. She's a wonderful world builder. This story, In the Arms of A Lost Love, was my first Lady Blade book and won't be my last. She made the story come alive, and the book has a great little surprise as it takes you into world of sci-fi, which I found Lady Blade's writing can compete with best of them. A fantastic world. This is a great story, made me laugh, cry, boil in anger, and remember it the next day. Can't beat that! Website http://ladyblade.com/LadyBlade.htm Order book here

INTERVIEW WITH PATTI O'SHEA
Patti thanks so much for agreeing to an interview.
We’re talking to Patti O’Shea author of Ravyn’s Flight (which
personally is sitting on my book shelf) and the new 2176 series.
Patti O’Shea here folks, let’s get to know her.
On Writing Why
do you write romance? I think it has to do with my fascination for exploring the
relationship between men and women. I
love watching my hero and heroine interact with each other and the way they
change and grow as the story progresses. And
I love a happy ending! When
did you first discover that writing was your passion? I was in 8th grade when I found out how much I enjoyed
writing. A friend of mine wrote a
story using everyone in the class as characters.
I didn't like what she did with "me" and she refused to change
it. That's when I decided to write
my own story, so that I'd have control. I
soon found out the joke was on me because my characters have a lot of control!
But this is how I discovered that I loved writing and I've been doing it
ever since.
What
new book projects do you have on the back burner? Too many! I need more
time to write! Next up is the third book in the Crimson City series.
It will be out in the fall of 2005 and I'm really excited about these
characters! This heroine is pretty
different from the women I usually have talking to me and I think she'll be a
challenge, but then every book presents at least one of those.
Are
you a pantser or a plotter? I'm a seat of the pants writer, although with "The Power of
Two," I started doing something I call chapter goals.
When I finished a chapter, I'd think about the next one and decide what I
wanted or needed to occur, then I'd try to make it happen.
When
do you write? I write whenever I can! I
write before I go to work, I write during lunch at work, I write when I get home
from work and I write on the weekends.
What
kind of research do you do for your stories? The kind of research I do depends on what I need for the story.
I usually buy a book or two--or more--on the subject I need to learn
about because I like to highlight key points as I read.
And I'll watch documentaries and check out small points on the internet. I also have a pretty eclectic educational background since the
University of Minnesota's School of Journalism required its majors to have a
very well-rounded curriculum. It's
come in handy because I know a little bit about a lot of things—at least
enough to point me in the right direction—and then I research to acquire a
more in-depth knowledge. Where
do you get your story ideas? All over the place! With
"Ravyn's Flight," I saw, in my mind's eye, a clock blinking 12:00 and
I was curious what was going on. The
whole story started with that visual image and my curiosity. For "The Power of Two," I heard the word "nanotechnology"
in my head and started thinking about what would be cool about that.
Then I heard my heroine's name a few minutes later and once I had that,
everything started coming. In my Crimson City book, it all began with the characters and their backgrounds. What
was the first romance novel you read? How did it shape your own writing goals? I actually don't remember which one was first.
I would go to the library and wander around, so I was reading books all
over the spectrum. One thing I do
recall, though, is that if I were reading a book without a romance in it, I
would create one in my head. I always found reading a book without a strong romance to be
dissatisfying no matter how good the rest of the story was, so maybe that's why
I write what I do.
Do
you listen to music while you write? What kind? Sometimes, but mostly I don't. I
like to write with a baseball game on TV and the sound muted.
That way I can just glance up now and then, see what's happening and go
back to writing. Right now, I'm
eager for spring training! Of course, I live in Minnesota, so I'm eager for spring,
period. On the future What
is your next project? My next project is the third book in the Crimson City series.
My hero and heroine are both half demon and half human and they have
issues to deal with because of their backgrounds.
Conor is pretty edgy and Mika is too, but she also has this mischievous
streak. I'm about a quarter of the
way into the book right now, and I'm really enjoying these two. What
ideas for projects do you have for future use? I have a bunch of ideas and I've worked up a few proposals for them.
One is a spin off of "Ravyn's Flight."
The hero and heroine are new characters, but I plan to run Stacey and
Alex as a secondary couple again and wrap up their story for all the readers who
asked to see it. Another is a paranormal romance where the heroine is a troubleshooter
for a society of magic users and she has to rescue the hero from her former
mentor. This heroine's issue is
that she believes everyone is waiting for her to slip up, so she's almost too
kick-butt. But she feels she has
something to prove. My third proposal isn't quite finished, but it's close.
If I only had time to work on it, I could get it done and out there!
It's a romantic suspense. The
heroine is a thief who's been blackmailed into working for a top secret
government agency. She meets the
hero when they're partnered on a case. This
is his story and I find the hero fascinating.
I kind of see the book as a cross between two old television shows; It
Takes a Thief and Mission: Impossible—implausible, but exciting. When
is your next book scheduled for release? My Crimson City story is slated to be out in the fall of 2005. On the Personal Side My best moment had to be selling "Ravyn's Flight."
This is what I'd dreamed of since I started scribbling with a pencil in a
spiral notebook in the 8th grade.
I think the euphoria lasted about six weeks.
How
did it feel when you received the acceptance letter for your first book? I didn't believe it. I'd mailed "Ravyn's Flight" at the beginning of January and
a week or so later, left for vacation. I
came back to find I had two voice mail and an email from Kate Seaver at
Dorchester. Of course, it was too
late to call New York, so I spent that evening talking with a friend.
She kept insisting I'd sold and I kept saying it's only been three weeks
since I sent the manuscript; something must have happened to it and they needed
a new copy. My friend was right; I sold it the next day.
I think I walked around with the published book in my hand for two weeks
before I finally believed it was real.
How
would you describe yourself as a person?
If
you were stranded on an island… what four things would you have with you?
Indoor plumbing, electricity, high speed internet access and a
computer. I know I couldn't
actually have anything but the computer "with" me, but those are the
four things I'd want. I would have
made a terrible pioneer! Do
you believe in love at first sight? Hmm, maybe more in recognition at first sight.
I believe we have a soul mate and that on some level we recognize each
other when we meet. Of course, no one is a blank slate, so we have to get to know
each other and love takes time to grow.
If
you could go back into time and witness one event in the history of the world--
what would it be?
The Bernard Pivot Questionnaire
What
is your favorite word? Well, judging by what I have to edit out of my stories, my favorite word must either
be "just" or "really." :)
What
turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? What really gets me fired up creatively is when one of my characters,
or their story, sparks something I find interesting.
In my Crimson City story, it was the hero and heroine's backgrounds that
really intrigued me and had me all excited to work on their book.
They have such opposite experiences, yet they fit together and balance
each other so beautifully. I like to think I'm always open spiritually and emotionally to
whatever life has to offer. What
turns you off?
Negativity. I have a
really hard time writing or finding much energy after reading or hearing
something that isn't positive. I'm
developing a thicker skin, and learning to ignore more and more of it every day.
What
sound or noise do you love? I love the sound of the ocean.
What
sound or noise do you hate?
Whistling! What
profession other than your own would you like to attempt? I'd love to be an artist, to be able to pick up a sketch book and a
pencil and draw what I see. It
frustrates me endlessly that I have no talent in this direction.
What
profession would you not like to do?
The list is way too long! How
about if I say the only profession I'm interested in doing full time is
writing? Are
you a fuzzy slipper or bare foot woman. I'm definitely happiest when I'm barefoot. Living in Minnesota is hard because the summers are so short!
I start complaining the minute it's cold enough to need socks.
